Turquoise heart gemstone necklace. The sweet turquoise heart is Campitos turquoise. The mine is in Sonora, Mexico, it has been in production since the 1980's. There are a few other mines, some still producing, some closed. They are scattered across Arizona, Nevada and into Mexico.
Campitos is unique in several ways. It grows in clay as free-form nuggets, rather than as veins which is typical of many North American turquoises. Its color is said to most closely resemble Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, and ranges from a light to medium blue., occasionally with pyrite inclusions, giving it a bit of sparkle.
Campito in Spanish is a derivative of the word "campo", meaning "field" or "countryside".
Sterling silver secure lobster clasp and decorative chain are adorned with rich factated Amethyst, Sodalite and Silver.
Amethyst is a precious stone consisting of a violet or purple variety of quartz.
Did you know Sodalite is one of the birthstones for Sagittarius?
Sodalite commonly comes in a stunning royal blue color, frequently various shades of blue, more frequently blue-grey speckled with white calcite.
The meaning of sodalite is all about truth, inner peace, and logic. Its properties are deeply linked to the heart, which make it the perfect stone to combine with the turquoise heart.
The necklace measures 22 inches in length. The turquoise heart measures 1 1/8 wide by 1 1/8 high.
This is a one of a kind.
Enjoy wearing as much as I enjoyed making for you.
