Akoya cultured pearls size is a major factor. The most common size is 6 or 7mm.
There are seven pearl shapes-spherical, round, near-round, symmetrical, oval, button, drop and baroque.
Colored pearls come in many colors. Apricot, Aubergine, Golden, Lavender, Peacock and Pistachio.
Luster is probably the most important factor.
